Gilbert (Gil) Jefferies, age 75, passed away on June 13, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital in Meridian, ID. Gil was born in Yakima,WA on March 24, 1936 to Myrtle and Charles Jeffries. He grew up in Yakima where he graduated from high school.

Gil married Jeanie Cotelos in 1955. Soon after they married they had 3 daughters. He later married Martha Jean Dawson who had 3 grown children.

Gil worked in the meat industry (Armour Foods) until he retired in the early 90's.
Gil never met a stranger. Through his travels he met so very many people who became life-long friends. Gil was a loving father, grandpa, husband, and uncle. He was a loyal and devoted friend.

Gil's idea of a great day was to make at least one person smile or laugh. His gift of story-telling was legendary and will live on with all of us who loved him.
Gil's hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, weekend boating trips, and gardening. You could always count on Gil for a good party and a mean steak. His door was always open.

Gil is survived by his beloved companion Lorraine Hazen, 6 children, Pam Kozak (Fred), Jeanie Vaughn (Steve), Jan Bourquin (Jim); Scott Dawson (Deb), Sue Anthony and Debbie Jean Cypher.

Additionally he is survived by his grandchildren Heather Brannan (Jeff), Charlie Dawson (Charlee Ann), Amber Hardison (Eric), Brandon Vaughn, Mike Fry, Candace Anthony, Christine Anthony, Justin Fry and Matthew Kozak. Gil has 6 great grandchildren. Gil also leaves behind his sister Juanita Tighe, sister-in-law Nell Jeffries and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife of 18 years, Martha Jean Jefferies, his brother Bill, sister Phyllis and her husband Emil Kissel, their precious child Annie, and his mother and father.

Funeral services will be at 1 :00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Avenue, Boise, ID. Concluding services will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. The Jefferies family will greet friends and there will be a viewing on Sunday, June 19, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
