Greg’s family in Boise would appreciate anyone wanting to
share a remembrance about Greg below his obituary at

.. Greg Shannon, 63, went home to be with Jesus in a Boise hospital surrounded by
his wife and closest friends from respiratory complications on Wednesday,
November 12, 2014. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life was held at
11 a.m., November 19, 2014 at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho, followed by
a private gathering in the evening at his
home.
He was born on November 3,1951
in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert and Patricia Shannon. Greg did all formal
education in Kansas City and lived there until his career in the food industry
took him to Boise, Idaho.
On September 8, 2006, he married Liz Markus .They
enjoyed traveling together and teaching a program he developed called Fry
Station Management. Greg was instrumental in developing a successful training
program for the J.R. Simplot Company, and traveled to 30 countries for the
United States Potato Board and various equipment companies, teaching restaurants
and food processors his love of perfecting the best French Fry. His fondest wish
was to take his wife to all these countries but this was interrupted by his
illness. He was given the name “Monsieur Pomme de Terre”, Mr. Potato, when he
consulted in France.
Greg’s interests included his love for sailing, Nascar,
fine dining, and being an ultimate “foodie” before that word was ever coined;
barbecuing and dabbling in all kinds of ethnic foods, especially sushi and
Korean barbecue, and sharing time with friends. He loved to dance and laugh, and
brought so much love to Liz and her sons.
He had a smile and the warmest bear
hug for everyone he met. The song, “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” expressed
to everyone he met how he felt about Jesus and being saved; now God is making
his wish possible for eternity.
He is survived by his wife Liz, her two sons
Brandon and Brian, his mother Patricia Shannon, his dear sisters, Susan
Riederer(Paul), Nancy Allen(Vaughn) and Marianne; brothers, Kevin Shannon(Erin),
Dan Shannon(Shelly), Bob Shannon(Leigh), and a sister-in-law Lisa Cuff, 15

Shannon.
