Gretchen Ann Roeser
Portsche, 85, of Boise, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at a local assisted
living center.
Gretchen Ann Roeser
was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 9, 1928. After graduating from high school, she moved
to Salt Lake City, Utah with her sister, Mae.
She studied fashion illustrating when she first moved to Salt Lake
City. She met Vernon Portsche and they
were married October 11, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Salt Lake
City. In 1959, they moved to Boise,
Idaho.
Gretchen was an
active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and later Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Boise. In 1964 she began
working at the J.C. Penney's Co., starting part-time in gift wrap and eventually
becoming Office Manager. She worked for
J.C. Penney's for twenty two years.
She is survived by
her husband of sixty-five years, Vern; two daughters, Karen Vogler Beck
(Harvey) and Cathy Worcester (Richard);
four grandchildren, Phil Vogler, Shaun Vogler (Dawn), Ben Worcester, Elizabeth
Bacon (Daniel), and four great-grandchildren, Cody, Kailey, Amy, and Michaela
Vogler.
A funeral service
will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, Boise. A private
graveside will be held on Monday, November 18, at the Idaho State Veterans
Cemetery.
