Helen Raines Snodgrass

Helen Raines Snodgrass went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.  A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Boise Friends Church, 7751 Goddard Road, Boise, ID 83704.

Helen was born on November 27, 1927 in Mobile, Alabama to George Raines and Louise Stapleton Raines. Her family moved to Seattle when she was 7 years old and lived there through her junior year of high school. The family then moved to Oklahoma to take care of her grandmother. After graduating from high school the family moved to Boise where her father worked for the Corp of Engineers on the Lucky Peak Dam project.

She worked at the office of Dr. Privett until she married Charles Snodgrass. She and her husband lived in Dayton, Ohio and Denver for several months while Charles continued his education.

After her children were grown she went to work at The Idaho Statesman and worked as a bookkeeper in the business office until her retirement.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, reading, watching BSU football and traveling. They traveled to every state, the lower 48 in their motorhome, and took many cruises as well as tours overseas. She especially enjoyed having friends and family over to play her favorite board game. She also loved animals and enjoyed playing with her two cockatiels and watching the many squirrels and birds who came to her yard for a meal.

She was a member of the Columbian Club, Secretary of Job's Daughters Bethel 54, a member of Adah Chapter #8 Order of Eastern Star, secretary and board member of Reachout Crisis Hotline, and secretary of Boise Roadrunners (a Good Sam RV club). She was also campaign chairman for John Reardon's bid for House of Representatives.  After he was elected she worked for the Idaho Legislature.

She and her husband attended Boise Friends Church for many years where she was an elder, served on the nominating committee and was leader of the senior activities committee.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Gordon) Bayless and son Chuck (Connie) Snodgrass, five grandchildren: Matthew (Anna) Bayless, Andrew Bayless, Michael (Kelli) Bayless, Stephanie Bayless, Kimberly Snodgrass, and three great-grandchildren.
