Horace James (Jim) Baugh

Horace James (Jim) Baugh passed away, at home, on Friday, October 21, 2016.

Jim was born the 2nd of July, 1938 to Harry Garnett and Edith (Shumate) Baugh. He was raised on the family ranch in Shoshone, Idaho and graduated from Shoshone High in 1956. He joined the US Marine Corps in November of 1956. His training was in aviation fundamentals and he completed his military obligation in November of 1962. He received an honorable discharge and continued working on the ranch.

Jim was attending business school when he started working for the State of Idaho, Liquor Dispensary, in June of 1964, as a stock clerk. By November of 1964, he became a Store Manager and in the spring of 1965, he was promoted to District Supervisor in north Idaho. He continued to work his way upward within the Liquor Dispensary. He returned to Boise in 1968 as the Purchasing and Pricing Administrator, and advanced to the Office Manager position in 1972. He was prompted to “Assistant Superintendent” in 1974 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1996. Bette brought two children into this relationship and they became part of Jim’s life. Wayne and Becky Olin. Jim and Bette have shared their life together for the past 34 years.

Jim loved life. He would do anything for anyone, at any time without thought of his personal inconvenience or discomfort. Jim helped many people over the years. He was a good mechanic, good with home repairs, and always there if called upon for any reason.

Jim was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed the land and fresh air. He was a pilot, loved the freedom of flying his own plane and felt the same while riding horses. Round-up was a time he enjoyed. His outdoor activities included hunting, boating, skiing, river-rafting, snowmobiling, camping, Alaska fishing trips with his buddies, BSU games, gardening and of course traveling in his motor-home. All being a large part of his life.
