Inez C. Tews Rickard



Inez C. Tews Rickard, age 84, went home to heaven on January 26, 2013. She was born on June 29, 1928 at her grandparents home in the community of Ten Davis between Notus and Parma, Idaho, to Arthur and Nellie Weick Tews. She grew up on a farm just east of Notus and attended grades 1-12 at the Notus School, graduating in May 1946.
After high school, she went to work in the office at Dairymens Creamery in Caldwell where she worked until her son was born.

She met George "Rick" Rickard in March 1947 at the Caldwell Roller Rink. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Parma, Idaho, on September 21, 1947. In June 1949 she had a son, Danny, and the family moved from Caldwell to Nampa. In 1953 her daughter Celia was born, and soon after they moved to Boise. Later, Inez worked at Allstate Insurance until her retirement 30 years l ater. After retiring, she volunteered at the Red Cross and enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling with her husband and watching Boise State Football.

She loved her Lord and was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church and a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Boise, Idaho, since 1953.

Holidays were special with her immediate family and other family members. Her granddaughters, Stephanie and Kimberly, and her great grandson, Matthew, meant so much to her.

Inez was preceded in death by a younger brother, Earl, her parents Art and Nellie Tews, her husband George "Rick" Rickard. She is survived by son, Danny Rickard, daughter-in-law, Linda, of Council, Idaho; daughter, Celia Maynard, and son-in-law, Steve; granddaughters, Stephanie Maynard and Kimberly Lee; and great grandson , Matthew Maynard, all of Boise. She is also surv i ved by two sisters, Lois Ke l lerman ( Mervin) and Janet Schudde (Al), and a brother Harold T ews ( Juanita), as we ll as h er dear friend, Laverne Vick, of Meridian, Id aho, with whom she spe n t many en j oyable years.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd LWML, St. Luke’s Hospice, or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

A viewing will be held and the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 1, at Cloverdale Cemetery.  A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5009 Cassia, Boise.  A luncheon will follow the memorial service.
