Jack G. Edwards,
86, of Nampa, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Veterans Community
Living Center in Boise.
He was born on
November 24, 1924, to Nancy Margarette Wardrop and John L. Edwards in
Fairfield, Idaho.
Jack attended
grade and high school in Fairfield, and went on to Link’s School of Business
and Boise Junior College in Boise, Idaho. He served in the United States Navy from
June 1944 to March 1946 during WWII. He worked on farms and ranches on the
prairie which later led to operating heavy earth moving equipment on construction
jobs and at the Lucky Peak Dam. Jack worked for 35 years and retired from the
Idaho Surveying and Rating Bureau.
He taught Idaho
Hunter Education for 20 years and enjoyed working with the young students he
taught.
Jack was a
lifetime member of the Homedale Rod and Gem Club, member of the American Legion
Post #0019 in Fairfield, and the Idaho Outdoor Association.
He is survived by
his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Kay Packard of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Kenneth
Edwards of Peoria, Arizona; step-children, Ed Aldrich of Inkom, Idaho, Arlyn
Aldrich of Boardman, Oregon and Debora Chirumblo of Nampa, Idaho; fourteen
grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his mother and father, five sisters and two brothers.
A memorial
service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with military honors by the United States Navy.
A private inurnment will be held at Meridian Cemetery.
