James Overseth

James Overseth, known to many as "Jim," peacefully passed away on July 29, 2024 in Boise Idaho with his family by his side. He was born on March 14, 1946, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Robert and Nadine (Grenier) Overseth.

He attended and graduated from Sheridan (WY) High School in 1964, Sheridan (WY) Junior College in 1970 with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and Idaho State University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, Major: Management and Organization.

He had an extensive career in the banking industry for over 40 years with various positions in commercial lending, examination, and branch management.

Over the years, Jim resided in Sheridan, WY, Pocatello, ID, Seattle Area, WA, Redmond, Oregon, and Boise Area, ID. He was particularly fond of Devils Tower National Monument WY as his family operated the general store and post office.

In addition to his professional and educational achievements, Jim also honorably served in the United States Army Reserve 461st Engineering Company from 1966 to 1972.

Jim married his high school sweetheart Vicki Boley in Sheridan Wyoming on October 29,1966. They were homecoming king and queen in their senior year and Jim was the football captain. Vicki suddenly passed in November, 1972. Jim had a 5 year old and a 6 month old to raise on his own. Jim and the girls moved to Pocatello, ID for Jim to attend college.

While Jim was attending Idaho State University, he met Sue Lallatin..They married October 12, 1974 moving to Boise in 1977 where they lived the majority of their marriage. They divorced in 2001.

Jim married a long time friend Carolyn (Yunek) Manly in South Lake Tahoe, California on June 19, 2002. They lived in the Boise area and moved to Redmond OR for 8 years returning to Star ID in 2016.

Beyond his work life, Jim had a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an avid golfer and car enthusiast who enjoyed attending car shows and races at the Meridian Speedway and enjoyed the drag races at Firebird Raceway. In his youth, he even took part in racing himself. Jim cherished moments spent playing board games and Mexican Train with loved ones and friends.. He had a special affinity for vacations at the Oregon Coast. Jim was a big fan of the Boise State Bronco’s football team. Photography was a hobby for Jim and he also had artistic abilities. He was a fix it guy and enjoyed anything to do with the tech world with long conversations with Alexa.

Among his proudest accomplishments were his roles as Treasurer of the Silver Sage Girl Scout Council and his involvement with the Capital City Kiwanis, where he made valuable contributions to the community. He served on the board at Mountain View Fellowship church in Redmond OR.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Tonya Ingraham (Bryon) of Jerome, Idaho; daughter, Teena Pitman (Don) of Meridian, Idaho; stepdaughter, Julie Cunningham of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Amanda (Braiden) Payne, Zachary (Maddie) Ingraham, Mackenzie (Jeremy Castaneda) Ingraham, Morgan (Saxton) Haws-Davis, Katelyn Pitman, and Alison Pitman.10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeri Overseth of Bigfork MT; cousin/like a brother Donald Duane Morgan of Le Mars IA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nadine Overseth of Meridian, ID; his wife and mother of his daughters ,Vickie (Boley) Overseth : sister and brother-in-law, Diane & Larry Zowada of Downey, CA; brother, Elmo Overseth of Bigfork, MT; nephew, Bryan Overseth of Bigfork, MT; nephew, Scott Zowada of Downey, CA; and stepson, Greg Cunningham of Boise, ID.

Jim will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family and friends.
