James Prescott, 84 of Boise passed away the morning
of December 5, 2012 with his loving step daughter (Muriel) at his side.
Jim was born October 3, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah
to Hyrum and May Prescott.
Jim drove truck and worked in mines and on ranches
before he enlisted in the military. He joined the Air Force and served 12 ½
years. After he got out of the service he purchased the Lazy J Tavern which
operated from 1964 until 2008.
Jim joined the American legion where he was very
active for 14 years. Jim was the commander of the American Legion Eagle Post
until Sept 2012.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Sandra Matthews
(grand children Gerry Kassianos his wife Jessica with one great-grandchild and
Michelle Matthews Vogel her husband Justin.) Step-daughter Christeenia “Chris”
her husband Donald Stuart (grandchildren Teresa her husband Howard Harshman
with two great-grandchildren, and Dawn her husband Keith Crockett with four
great-grandchildren); step-daughter Sherrie her husband Jerry Cook (grandchildren
Tammy Satterfield with five great-grandchildren, Tanya Miller with three
great-grandchildren, and Terri Giddeon with three great-grandchildren);
step-son Robert Haas (grandson Kirk Haas); step-son Hyrum Haas his wife Donna
(grandson Brian Haas with two great-grandchildren); step-son Augustus “Gus”
Elmquist his wife Sheryl (grandchildren James “Jimmy” and Heather); and
step-daughter Muriel Elmquist. Two sisters: Esther and Elsie. Brothers: Marvin,
Wilford, Kenneth and Edwin. Several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Grace, his
mother and father, brother Lawrence, and sister Sylvia.
His family would like to thank Dr. Palma and staff
at Veterans Medical Center, Treasure Valley Hospice and Capital Care for all
their compassion at this time of need.
