James R. Barker, 70,
of Meridian, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at home of natural causes.
James was born
August 5, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Julian and Helen Picha Barker.
Mr. Barker served in
the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of GySgt.
In November of 1968 James married Marion Maini Humphrey in
Palm Springs, CA. After coming to Idaho, he worked for the Idaho State Dept. of
Corrections as a correctional officer.
James had many special intersts. He was an excellent woodworker. He also spent many hours riding his mule and
he enjoyed visiting the Owyhee Mountains on his day trips, while getting in
some mule riding.
He was a member of the VFW in Boise.
He is survived by his wife,
Marion; one son and his wife, Bill and Valynne Humphrey; and two
grandchildren, Karly and Bob. He was
preceded in death by a son, Bob Humphrey.
A graveside service with Military honors will be held at
11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Kuna Cemetery. Arrangements
are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
