Sgt. Jared S. Spickelmier was born on December 17, 1980 in
Boise, Idaho to Steven R. and Pamela (Patterson) Spickelmier. Jared passed into the arms of his Lord on
November 4, 2014, in Boise, Idaho.
Jared attended and graduated from Boise High School in 1999.
Following graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps and served from
1999 to 2008. Jared was deployed to
Kuwait and Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a CH46 helicopter crew
chief. As a result of his service, he
was awarded among others, his Combat Air Wings with 3 Stars of which he was especially proud. Following
his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Jared attended Boise State
University.
Jared had many
interests and talents, but his passion was
bass fishing and photography.
Jared was the current President of the Idaho Bass Nation. He organized the first Treasure Valley High
School hockey club at Boise High in 1998 where he served as team captain. He also organized the first ever Boise State
University Anglers Club in 2009.
Jared was a member of numerous organizations including: Ten
Mile Christian Church; Idaho Bass Nation; BBB Bass Club; Idaho Bassmasters;
Marine Bass Anglers; Heroes on the Water and Force on Force.
Jared is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents,
K.C. and Mary Spickelmier and maternal great-grandparents Wayne and Pauline
Patterson.
Jared is survived by his parents, Steve and Pam Spickelmier;
maternal grandparents, Darwin and Roberta Patterson; Aunts Sara (David) Reser;
Laurie (Darren) Fitch; and Uncle Patrick (Cindy) Patterson, all of Boise. Jared is also survived by his fiancé, Taneil
Groothuis, of Nampa, and her family; as well as numerous special cousins.
