1935 to Clarence and Ada Gibson on their Rupert
,
Idaho
farm. He was the youngest of five children and enjoyed living the farm life.
He attended school in Rupert
,
Idaho
and graduated from Rupert High School in 1953
.
After
high school Jarl attended the University of Oregon. He made many lifelong
friends and was proud to be a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon
f
raternity.
He went on to attend The University of Oregon Dental School in Portland
,
Oregon.
There he met his best friend
,
and love of his life
Shirley Pauline Hanson
.
They were married December 27th
,
1958
in Watertown
,
South Dakota.
Jarl graduated from dental school in 1960 and then he served his
country by joining the Navy. When his time in the ser
v
ice
was over he mo
v
ed his family back to Idaho. He started his own dental practice
in
C
aldwell
,
Id
a
ho where he worked for 6 years. He then moved his office to
Boise where he continued practicing dentistry for 27 more years.
During his life Jarl was also active in his communit
y
.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Rockies Methodist Church for 45 years
and served on many committees and boards. He was also a member of the Boise
Rotary Club for 27years. He also was active in the Southwest Idaho District
Dental Society and served as president 1984-1985.

y
Club
for 43 years. He served on social committees
,
but
,
most
days you could find him on the tennis courts
,
or
golf course cultivating the many friendships he had built while being a member.
Jarl loved life
,
and the outdoor lifestyle
that Idaho offers. He was an avid skier
,
hunter,
tennis player, and golfer. If possible he would fit at least two of these
activities into any given day
.
Over the years he spent
many hours attending the activities of his children
,
and
grandchildren. During his retirement he could be found at countless school
performances, ballet recitals, and ball games supporting his grandchildren. All
of these events provided him with opportunities to make new
f
riends
and share the many stories
t
hat he had accumulated
during his lif
e
time. The greatest joy's in Jarl's life were his faith and his
family.
Jarl is survived by his wife Shirle
y
,
his children Joan Gibson (daughter), Eric Gibson (son), Kari Gibson-Bedal
(daughter)
,
and James Bedal (son-in-law)
,
and
his two grandchildren Karl Bedal
,
and
Lauren Bedal. He is also survived by his sister Deloris Loveland and many
nieces and nephews
.
