Joan Carol (Carman) Walsh was
born in Tacoma, Washington on November 5, 1943. She attended Puyallup,
Washington schools, and then attended Washington State University, in Seattle,
Washington, followed by Weaver Airline Academy in Kansas City, Missouri. She
was employed by Pacific Airlines, in Monterey, California, where she traveled
the country. She met Roger Walsh in 1961 and they were married in 1966. They
started in Puyallup and shortly after moved to Nampa, then Homedale, and
finally Boise, where they raised two children, Stacey and Michelle. Joani cared
for her home and children according to God’s biblical teachings. She was an
integral part in the typing and publishing of the Suriname, South America, Trio
Indian tribes first Bible. She was later employed by the Woman’s Clinic in
Boise until her retirement in 2009.
Joani enjoyed God’s wonderful
landscapes, from the desert to the mountains to the ocean beaches. She traveled
wide and far, camped in the mountains of Idaho, gardened for fun, and was an
avid quilter. In 1970, through the Women’s Bible Study Fellowship, Joani gave
her life to Jesus Christ, and became a “fisher-of mankind” sharing His grace
and love with a soft touch to everyone she met. She was devoted to her two
children, her four grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and will be missed
by many.
Joani was preceded in death by
her mother Dorothy L. (Coleman) Carman, and her father Richard N. Carman. She
is survived by her brother Richard of Washington; her husband Roger of Boise;
their son Stacey and his wife Sylvia, their three children: Sarah, Melissa, and
Nathan of Nampa; their daughter Michelle, her son Noah and his wife Amethyst,
and their daughter Kara of Boise.
A private family graveside
