JoAnn Horton Furey,
89, of Boise, Idaho, died October 12, 2015 in a Boise hospital of natural
causes.
Memorial services are
to be held in Salmon, Idaho with inurnment at the Salmon Cemetery.
JoAnn was born on
April 24, 1926 in Burns, Oregon, the daughter of Violet Terrill Horton and
Vernon Horton.
She grew up in Idaho
and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1948 with a BA degree in Social
Work and was a Social Worker in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She lived in various places in Idaho
including Coeur d’ Alene, Nampa, Salmon, and Boise. JoAnn married Sherman Francis Furey, Jr.
She enjoyed her
family and outdoor activities such as snow skiing, tennis and hiking.
JoAnn was a member of
the Episcopalian Church, Delta Gamma, and the NU Chapter at the University of
Idaho.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jan Furey
and Paul Thompson (Edgewood, WA), Sherman and Debbie Furey (Boise, Idaho), and
Terrill and Steve Rust (Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Katherine Lara, Marjorie
Thompson, Justin Furey, Jerrett Furey, Stephen Furey, Cole Furey, Kristine
Friday, Taylor Rust, and Karrah Rust; great-grandchildren, Taylor Furey, Bridger Bertram, Haden Furey, Kaleb Furey, Carter Friday, Elena Lara, Aiden Furey, Grace Furey, Noah Furey and Olivia Furey. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Sherman Francis Furey, Jr., her son, Stephen Horton Furey,
and one grandchild, Michael Sherman Furey.
