JoAnne Allen was born January 29,
1943 in Jerome Idaho, the oldest child and only daughter of Paul and Susie
Herron. They moved to Glens Ferry Idaho where she spent her early childhood.
She gained two little brothers, Tommy and Joel Herron. She told us stories of
driving the garbage truck for her dad when she was 8 years old and hopping on
their bikes to chase the sounds of the fire trucks when the town alarms went
off.
Her family moved to Boise when she
was 10 and she spent the rest of her 74 years living there. JoAnne was baptized
into the Followers of Christ Church, December 2, 1957 and was a wonderful
example of showing charity and kindness to everyone.
She graduated from Borah High School
and got a job at Kit where she met the love of her life, Roger. He had to chase
his Jody Anne for a bit, but she said he could sing and looked like Elvis so
she gave in. JoAnne and Roger were married for almost 49 years and had three
daughters. They spent their free time camping. They purchased land in Donnelly,
Idaho to have their own place to camp in 1986. It was their other pride and joy
besides their family. So many wonderful times were spent there with family and
friends making the best memories.
JoAnne’s family was everything to
her. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and always
making too much food whenever we were together, were her favorite times as well
as her time spent with her brothers and sisters in law. Her second loves were
dark chocolate, coconut, and FROGS! She was always a tomboy, always had her
pocket knife on her to fix it, and always worked hard, and refused to retire no
matter how much her family tried to convince her.
She spent her last years living out
her dreams of travel. She went on several trips with her daughters, brothers
and sisters in law, and finally got to see her whales.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her
parents, Paul and Susie Herron; her husband, Roger Allen; her grandchildren,
Brock, Natalie, and Jody Sevy; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Herron.
She is survived by her brother, Tommy
Herron and sister-in-law, Barbra; brother, Joel Herron and sister-in-law, Kathy;
daughter, Shannon Sevy and son-in-law Butch, grandchildren, Buddy, Clayton,
Veronica and her husband DJ, and Cody Sevy; her daughter, Paula Monch and son-in-
law, Jeff; grandsons, J.J and Tanner, daughter, Kelli Randolph and son-in-law, Rusty,
granddaughters, Aurora and her husband, Dillon, and Julia; and two great
grandbabies, Hallie and Ben.
