JOHN H EDMUNSON, 90, died Friday, August 24,2012, of natural
causes. He was born November 16, 1921
,
in
Juntura, Oregon, to John and Lena Edmunson. After his mother's death, he was
raised by his Aunt Doris and Uncle Lloyd Edmunson on their ranch in Westfall,
Oregon. He graduated from Harper High School in 1940, where he excelled
academically and lettered in baseball and wrestling. Upon graduation, his
enlistment into the US Air Corps included a tour in India. He was honorably
discharged in 1945.
He met and married Iva Yensen of Roseberry, Idaho, in 1946
.
Their
young married lives took them from Westfall to Prairie City, Oregon, while he
ranched and worked in the saw mill. They moved to Star, Idaho, as he began a
33-year career as a lineman for Idaho Power
,
and
later to Boise, where they built their family home and raised their three
children
.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed hunting
,
gardening,
playing cards, watching sports, and spending time with his grandchildren
.
Surviving John is his loving wife
,
Iva,
of 66 years, one son
,
Johnnie Chris Edmunson, of Emmett
,
two
daughters, Judy Pope and Susan Austin
,
both
of Boise, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren (who were his pride and
joy), and one sister, Edna Arriola, of Vale, Oregon
.
John
was preceded in death by his two brothers, Tom and Bud Edmunson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m
.
