Joyce Fetrow, 73, passed away on December 1

,
2012 at her home. Joyce and her identical
twin sister Joanie were born on May 9, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska to Harry Howell of
Kansas and Jenny (Jean) Butt, an immigrant from London. Following a divorce, her mother Jean later
married Clarence Hansen. In addition to her twin sister, Joyce had an older
sister Kathleen (deceased) and a younger sister Linda. Joyce attended school in Omaha, graduating
from Tech High School. As a young woman
she worked as phone operator at Northwestern Bell before meeting Paul Fetrow
from O’Neill Nebraska on a blind date in February, 1963. They soon fell in love and married on
September 7, 1963. Joyce and Paul were devoted to each other for nearly 40
years until his death in 2004. Together
they had three children: Jenni, Matt and Beth and five grandchildren Nick,
Andrew, Madalyn, Chris, and Ben. The
whole family moved to Boise in 1974.
Joyce was a great lover of music, and sang in numerous
choirs throughout her life including the 4 J’s barber shop quartet in High
School, the Boise Choristers and the Boise Master Chorale. She most recently played in the Northwest
Nazarene bell choir. Joyce was also a
season ticket holder of the Boise Philharmonic.
Joyce loved spending time in the Idaho outdoors, and many
happy hours were spent with her family fishing at Cascade Lake for bluegill and
perch and camping in various tents and assorted campers over the years. Joyce had an artistic flair with a great eye
for color and detail which she expressed in her beautiful home decor, and in painting
ceramics which she often gifted to others on special occasions. Joyce was also a tremendous fan of the
Nebraska Cornhuskers football team.
As an older adult she volunteered many years for the Boise
Assistance League.
Joyce was a person of integrity, a loyal friend, and a
devoted wife, sister, and mother. She will be sorely missed.
