Katherine (Kay) I. Strayer
Katherine (Kay) I. Strayer was born March 18, 1923
in Des Moines, Iowa to Frank and Lyndall Marturello. She graduated from Lincoln
High School in 1941. Kay married Tom Strayer August 15, 1942. They were married
69 years when Tom passed away January 6, 2012. They moved from Des Moines, Iowa
to Boise in 1957. She loved gardening and working in her yard. She loved
planting vegetables and flowers until she was unable to do so.
Preceding her in death, husband Tom, January 6,
2012, her parents, a baby sister, Mary at 6 months, twin brothers who died at
birth, brothers John and Joe Marturello, a baby grandson, and a great baby
grandson, two special nieces, Connie Marturello and Jane Grim, and nephew Mike
Baker.
Survivors are three daughters and one son, Nita
Bernard, St. Paul, MN, Marie Bishop (Jack), Cordova, TN, Cindy Berry, Mountain
Home, ID, and Thomas Strayer (Jackie), Bend, OR, one brother, Frank Marturello
(Rachel), Boise, ID, two sisters, Maxine Tyler and Donna Baker, both of Des
Moines, IA, eleven grandchildren and their spouses, twenty-one great-grandchildren,
two great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday,
July 15, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Service will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at Alden-Waggoner,
with a graveside committal at 1p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
