Kathleen Teare Ayers
died peacefully in her home on December 2, 2011 with her loving family at her
bedside. Kathleen was born March 2, 1932
in Boise, Idaho to Katherine and Samuel Teare.
She was one of four children; her twin sister Eyleen, and twin siblings
Shirley and Sam. She was escorted to
heaven with the sound of her favorite wind chimes in the background.
Through the age of
nine, Kathleen lived in several small communities where her mother was a teacher;
a converted chicken coop and an old post office were some of the places her
family called home while she was growing up.
Her father was a firefighter in the Treasure Valley, and was not always
able to live with them. At the age of
nine her family settled in the Kuna area where they lived on an 80 acre
ranch. Kathleen learned from a young age
how to work hard and how to love. Being
the oldest of four children, and having a mother who was busy with teaching,
she learned to cook as soon as she could stand on a chair and reach the
counter. She definitely mastered the art
of cooking a comforting home-cooked meal, which she passed on to her
children. Kathleen’s mother taught her
and her siblings up until the time she attended Kuna High School, where she
graduated in 1950. While attending Kuna
High School, she met Edgar William Ayers (Bill), who would eventually become
the love of her life.
After high school
in 1951 she went on a date with one of Bill’s brothers, but after that one date
Bill took his rightful place at Kathleen’s side. Kathleen and Bill were married in August of
1951. They had three children, and moved
all over the West for Bill’s job. In
October of 1962 they moved into the home they had built here in Boise, Idaho
and still call it home today.
Kathleen has had a
life full of wonderful memories, happiness, and love. We are all blessed to have been a part of
this special, loving, and kind-hearted woman.
We will all miss her greatly.
She is survived by
her husband Bill; daughter Kathy (George) Rohrig of Boise; son Gerald (Karen)
of Tampa; daughter Pam (John) Johnson of Shelley; grand-daughters: Rebecca,
Brenda, Janette, Mindy and Amy; grandson Adam, six great-grandchildren; brother
Sam (Ronda) Teare of Middleton; and sister Eyleen (Billy) Copenhaver of
Estacada.
She is preceded in
death by her mother Katherine, father Samuel, and sister Shirley.
The family would
like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful staff at Horizon
Hospice for their compassion, care and guidance through Kathleen’s lengthy
illness.
