Keith Allen Loveless passed away at the age of 79 on January 17, 2025 from complications associated with Parkinson’s. The oldest of three boys, Keith was a native Boisean born August 28, 1945 to James A. and Virginia E. Loveless.
Keith was an athlete in his younger days lettering in tennis and golf at Boise High School. He excelled in academics, which led him to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho. After graduating in 1969, he began a career with Morrison Knudsen working on the building of a large dam in Puerto Rico and the Libby Dam in Montana. Wanting to be his own boss, he started Loveless Engineering in the late 70’s. Keith operated a successful civil engineering business for many years until retiring to care for his ailing mother. During his working years, he was voted to two terms as an Ada County Highway District Commissioner. During his tenure, he was instrumental in starting Rake Up Boise, a program that continues to flourish. The program was developed to keep leaves out of the streets and drainage systems.
In the early 70’s, Keith teamed with his parents to buy lake front property in Donnelly where he used his engineering skills to help build a beautiful cabin where many extended family members gathered to boat, sail, fish, snowmobile and play games. Most weekends were spent at the cabin with Keith always cooking breakfast for the masses.
After the death of his father and lengthy illness and death of his mother, he sold the cabin and focused on his large garden and beautiful yard. He was very interested in the arts and loved his many paintings, collections and antiques. His health deteriorated over the past 10 years and limited the things he loved: boating, fishing and gardening; but he kept involved with his cousins and helped take care of his aunts through their passing.
Keith never met a stranger and would talk to anyone that would listen. His trips to Costco always took much longer with him visiting with half the patrons and staff.
Keith is survived by his brother Brent, cousin Billy Loveless of Sandpoint, ID and his caregiving cousins, Karen Scriver, Marlee Terry, and Diane Van Leuven, along with many other family members. Preceding Keith in death were his parents and his younger brother, Steven.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31 at 11 00 am at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise, with a luncheon afterward at Life’s Kitchen. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery.
