Larry
James Siggelkow left us too soon, on April 28, 2013 after living a very full
life and touching so many lives along the way.
He was born on December 24
th
, 1947 to his loving parents,
Evan "Barney" Siggelkow and Edna Gwendoline Watts. He
grew up in Garden City and was very active in the Community Christian Center.
Most of his teen years were spent working at the Royal Restaurant and Bradley
Airfield to finance his love of flying. He earned his pilot’s license on his
16th birthday and continued to fly his entire life. He was part of the first graduating class of
Capitol High school and went on to further his education at UNLV, earning a
bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. During his college years he flew for the BLM, then
SW Natural Gas as their corporate pilot. In Las Vegas he joined the police department
where he proudly served for over 30 years in various capacities. He was instrumental in helping the police
force integrate with aviation assets and spearheaded many of its penal
transportation programs.
Always known as a hard worker who
possessed many creative and innovative ideas, he would take his natural
entrepreneurial spirit and focus efforts on building one of the most successful
charter airlines in the Las Vegas area. Larry retired in 2011 and returned to
Boise to be near his family and spend what he called his H-A-P-P-Y years, fishing
in his backyard, doing regular goose patrols, running on his favorite trails, and
spending time with his beloved wife. Larry was happiest when surrounded by his family
and friends and he was always putting smiles on their faces. He loved airplanes and hot rods and couldn’t
ever find a TV big enough to watch his Boise State Broncos. He lived life to the fullest and leaves
behind a legacy of genuine kindness and generosity. Larry was a true gentleman and served as a
genuine example of humanity to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will
be deeply missed.
Larry is survived by his wife Nancee
Siggelkow of Boise, mother Edna Siggelkow of Boise, sister Starr Johnson (Roy)
of Boise, sister Susan Moore (Rendy) of Boise, brother Garry Siggelkow (Maria)
of Nampa.
Larry was very proud of his son
Langdon Siggelkow (Sharon) of Downytown, PA, and 5 daughters: Lindsay McFarland
of Los Angeles, CA, Lacey Fidel of Las Vegas, NV, Melissa Bridenstine (Jack),
of Sultan, WA, Dr. Tequa Salehi-Rad (Reza) of Havasu City, AZ and Monique
Spears (Joseph) of Aspen, CO. Larry is also survived by 8 dearly loved grand
children and many nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Larry.
