Larry (Lawrence Dale) Van Cleef

Larry (Lawrence Dale) Van Cleef passed away Saturday November 26th of natural causes.

He was born April 29th, 1939 to JD and Blanche Van Cleef in Burns Oregon. Larry had an older brother, Ron. The two of them competed in everything they could, including things like hiking 29 miles from Warm Lake to Highway 55. Legend has it that the culmination of one competition had Larry sticking a fork into Ron's leg, then having to escape the basement bedroom window, as Ron was tearing the door off the hinges to get back at him.

Larry was an Eagle Scout and an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and camping as often as he could.

He graduated from Nampa High School in 1957, and married his lifelong love, Janet Kay Kling on July 4th of that year. They had 4 children: Vicki Cai, Richard Dale, DeEdra Sue, and Jana Lynn.

He was also a devoted Christian and spent many years in ministry as a care pastor, mentoring young men in and out of church, involved in Kairos Prison Ministry, going on missions, building houses in Mexico for the disadvantaged and teaching at Pastor's conferences in Russia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ron, and his oldest daughter Vicki (Baca).

He is survived by his wife Janet Van Cleef, Richard and Josefina Van Cleef, DeEdra and Randall Price, Jana and Robert Truelsen, 10 grandchildren, and 18 Great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, December 3rd at Meridian Friends church at 2:00 pm. The address is 1021 W. Pine, Meridian, ID. A meal will be provided after the service.
