LaVern Marvin Anderson, 68, of Boise, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home, of natural causes.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel and Crematory.  A military service and interment will take place at the Ketchum Cemetery in April or May 2017 when weather allows it.

LaVern was born on Feb. 6, 1948 in Hailey, Blaine County, Idaho, to Clifford LeRoy Anderson and Alma Darline (Black) Anderson.  He lived in Ketchum, Idaho in his early years, attending school to the eighth grade, later moving to Boise, Idaho where in 1971 he married Evonne Messinger.  They had one child together, Elisa Sue Anderson in 1973, and later divorced.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the Dragon’s 4 th Infantry Division, afterwards returning to Boise where he worked as a handyman.  While working as a handyman he worked several projects with the Vet’s locally until his health gave out on him making him disabled. He very much enjoyed working at the Nampa State School helping with the children there.

Being a big fan of Elvis Presley he enjoyed his visit to Graceland in 2008.

His survivors include daughter, Elisa and her husband, Brad Larson; grandchildren, Brandon and Makayla Steele, and Madison Larson;  sister, LaVon M. and brother-in-law, (Bud) Carl Young of Boise, sister, Lois M. Gentry of Burley, Idaho; brother, LeRoy (Lee) and wife, Gail of Caldwell, ID;  sister, Laura M. and brother-in-law, Richard Clark, West Haven, Utah; brother, LaDell M. of Boise;  numerous cousins as well as several nieces and nephews.

LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Kenneth Gentry, uncles, aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
