Leon Marshall

Leon Glen Marshall was born on July 18, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Wilbur and Thelma Marshall. He ended his battle against bone cancer on June 2, 2016, and passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side. He was a loving husband and dad and a good friend to many.

After Leon graduated from high school, he attended airline school. He served his country as an Army medic for two years in Germany. On April 30, 1966, he married Kathleen Sue Ulshafer in Clarendon Hills, Illinois. They moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1968 where he worked for United Airlines for 39 years. He and Kathleen celebrated their 50th anniversary last month.

Leon and Kathleen’s three sons, Dave, Steve, and Scott, were born in Boise, and he was always engaged in their activities and proud of their accomplishments.

Leon shared his love for the outdoors with his sons, hunting, fishing, and raising Labrador retrievers. After retiring, he and Kathleen enjoyed traveling.

Leon’s family wants to extend a heartfelt gratitude to friends who have stood by this last year and a deep appreciation to Harrison’s Hope Hospice for the care given to Leon in his last days.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise. A committal service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
