Leonard Davis passed away at home in Boise
on October 6, 2015 with his wife and daughters beside him. He was 75. Leonard
battled colon cancer for two and a half years and amazed us all by maintaining
his courage and strength the entire time.
Leonard was born in Colfax, Washington on May 3, 1940 and
raised by his grandparents Cal and Eva Whitney in Greer, Idaho. He graduated
from Orofino High School in 1958 and moved to Boise to attend Link’s School of
Business. He later graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle and
spent 47 years in the banking industry. Leonard started his career as a
national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and later
worked in banking in Boise until he retired in 2006.
Leonard was married for over 52 years to Anna Jo (Frederiksen)
Davis. Together they raised their three daughters: Eva Steward (Blake Steward)
of Modesto, California, Lynnette Davis (Matt Munger) of Meridian, Idaho and
Angela Davis (Jeremy Piger) of Eugene, Oregon. In addition to his wife and
daughters, he is survived by seven grandchildren: Parker, Payton, Matti, John,
Kathryn, Henry and Owen. Leonard also leaves behind his aunt and uncle, Ruth
and Bill Bird, several cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Marjorie Davis, his grandparents,
and his beloved aunt and uncle, Betty and Berne Davis.
Leonard was a dog lover and always had a
loyal companion at his side, most recently his Boston Terrier, Fred.
Leonard touched many people during his life. He was a wonderful
husband, dad, grandpa, friend and neighbor. His family was the love of his life
and he was very proud of his three daughters and all they have accomplished. He
was a loyal friend and a father figure and mentor to many throughout his life. We
have heard from so many of his friends and colleagues about what a significant
impact he had on their personal and professional lives. The common theme
throughout these messages is the depth of his knowledge, his authenticity, and
above all his integrity. Those who knew him well also appreciated his unique
sense of humor. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Leonard was a humble man who never liked to be the center of
attention. In fact, he is likely frowning upon our attempt at the “modest
obituary” he authorized. We have, however, honored his request of no funeral
services. We encourage those who knew Leonard to share their memories on the guest
book at www.aldenwaggoner.blogspot.com
Leonard and his family would like to thank Dr. Dan
Zuckerman, Mary Beth and the staff at MSTI, as well as Vonette and Angie of All
Care Health Solutions, for their care and support. We would also like to
encourage everyone to follow the American Cancer Society’s guidelines for
regular colorectal screening.
