1933 – 2011
Ed Barton died suddenly February 5, 2011, at the age of 78. Ed was born January 6, 1933, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Howard and Eva Barton. When Ed was six years old his family moved to Boise, Idaho, where he grew up. He attended Boise High School and then played football at the University of Idaho in Moscow. He married Mary Ann Schultz on June 30, 1955, at Tucson, Arizona, where he served as a pilot in the Air Force. They had two daughters, Carolyn Diane and Carrie Ann.
His ever present sense of duty kept him very busy running the family business; Barton’s Hitch and Trailer. Honesty and integrity were the cornerstones of Ed’s life and business which made him very successful in both.
Ed loved living in the Great Northwest and spent his free time hunting, fishing, picking huckleberries, and just sharing special time “in the hills” with those he loved.
Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann; Carolyn and Todd Larson, Carrie Barton; Granddaughter, Elizabeth and Gerald Parker and two beloved great grandchildren: Maddy and Jerry; his brother, Howard and Kerry Barton; and sister, Jean and Jim Kesling, and numerous extended family and friends.
Ed will be remembered and forever loved for his robust, generous nature and heart of gold. His passing has left a great void in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow. Ed was a great defender of the underdog – the family suggests donations to the Idaho Food Bank Backpack Program which feeds children.
