Lidia Agnese Mcfarland

Lidia Agnese (Masoni) McFarland, 88, of Boise, ID, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, left this world to be with her Lord March 20, 2016. Lidia was born January 21, 1928, in Limiti (near Pisa), Italy, to Secondo and Quintilia (Ciardelli) Masoni. She married an American soldier, Leonard Fulleton, in Italy in April, 1946, and immigrated to America in September, 1946, living in Boise since that time. She and Leonard had 3 children. She later married Ray Woodward and they had 3 children. She married Ron McFarland in August, 1981, and they had been married 34 years at the time of her death. She became a U.S. citizen in 1982.

Lidia was an amazing cook and worked as a waitress and cook at numerous places in the Boise area including the Hillcrest Country Club, Royal Restaurant, Up-to-Date Cafe, Idaho Dept. of Employment cafeteria, Booth Memorial Home and Nazareth Retreat. She retired in 1987, but stayed busy for many years after that providing childcare for her many grandchildren and others.

The most important things in Lidia’s life were her family and her faith. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and never missed an opportunity to get together for food and fun. She was even able to return to see her family in Italy several times. She always worked very hard and was determined to overcome any challenges she encountered in life. If she wanted to get something done, she found a way to do it. Four years ago, Lidia suffered a drowning accident at a local rehab facility which left her with severe disabilities and began a downward spiral in her health. Even though the disabilities totally robbed her of her independence, she maintained her determination to do the best she could which exemplifies her belief that “God never gives you more than you can handle.” She was a strong and incredible woman. She was the center of our family and we will miss her more than words can say.

Survivors include her husband, Ron McFarland; daughters, Mary (George) Howard and Anna Coy (Mike Whitham); sons, Bud (Pearl), Jimmy (Bobbie) Woodward, and Johnny (Vicki) Woodward; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a step-sister, Giuseppina; brother-in-law, Giuseppe Fanelli, and nieces and nephews in Italy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother; her sister, Milena Fanelli; and a daughter, Charlotte McCormick.

A vigil service will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise, ID, at 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Sacred Heart Church, Boise, ID, with a viewing 10:15 to 10:55 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank at Sacred Heart Church.
