Lila M. Royse, 75, of Kuna, passed away on May 8,
2012, at her home of pancreatic cancer. A viewing will be held on Sunday, May
13, 2012, from 3-6 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise. Funeral
Services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Summit Church,
10375 Overland Rd., Boise, with Pastor Jim Steiner Officiating. A committal
service will follow at 2 p.m., at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
Lila was born on May 23, 1936, in Fruitland, Idaho,
to Rolland Walter Holmes and Erma Opal Toll Holmes. She attended schools in the
Nyssa School District, graduating from Nyssa High School. Lila’s first job was
with Tuttle Trucking, where she met Donald Royse, whom she married on July 7,
1956 in Nyssa. They had a loving relationship for 55 wonderful years. Lila was
a great homemaker. She was a member of Summit Church, and she began Bible Study
Fellowship at First Baptist in 1966. Lila was called into leadership in 1969 as
substitute Teaching Leader, and in 1976 as Teaching Leader. She served in Bible
Study Fellowship for almost 40 years, 18 of those as Teaching Leader, before
retiring in 1996. She enjoyed bird watching and horsemanship. Her special
interests were her family and Jesus her Savior.
Lila was preceded in death by her son, Steve Royse;
daughter, Patricia Ann Schlekeway; grandson, Brandon Schlekeway;
daughter-in-law, Monica Royse; parents, Rolland and Opal Holmes;
parents-in-law, Verne and Ruby Royse; and brother-in-law, Robert Royse.
Lila is survived by her husband, Don, of Kuna; son,
Brad Royse of Enterprise, OR; grandchildren, Eric Schlekeway, Michael
Schlekeway, Angie Schlekeway, Joshua Royse, Nicholas Royse, Jenifer Talich,
Dustin Royse, and Reanna Royse; five great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry and
Sheryl Holmes, of Notus, and Larry Holmes, of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law,
Sheryl and Larry Adams; brothers-in-law, Mearl and Karen Royse, and Earl and
Marilyn Royse; son-in-law Doc and Michelle Schlekeway; and special
sister-in-law, Millie and Larry Penn, who provided great care in Lila’s last
days.
The Royse family acknowledges, Dr. Paul Montgomery,
Head Nurse, Kathy Staime and the MSTI Nursing Staff, and Hospice Nurse Chris
Faulk and her staff, for their loving care.
