Lloyd Young, 90, of Boise, died Sunday, September 6,
2015.
Lloyd was born on May 10, 1925, in Wallins Creek,
Kentucky, to Wilson and Mallie (North) Young.
He attended school in Wallins Creek, KY, moving to Boise in his late
teens. He married Elaine (Rambo) Young
on October, 16, 1959 in Boise, Idaho. Lloyd
was drafted during WWII and served until 1959. He worked at the Veteran’s
Hospital until 1970, at which time he re-inlisted in the Army. Lloyd served
during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He earned both the Purple
Cross and Bronze Star. Lloyd retired from the Army in 1976 and worked at the
Veteran’s Hospital until he retired in 1986. Together, Lloyd and Elaine lived
in Boise, Idaho; Fort Lewis, Washington; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Erlangen, Germany.
After retiring from the Army, Lloyd and Elaine made their home
in Boise, Idaho.
Lloyd enjoyed watching baseball, especially his
favorite team the Atlanta Braves. He
also enjoyed going to Jackpot and playing craps. He loved seeing his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and going to dinner at the Cracker Barrel.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson
and Mallie Young; wife, Elaine; and several siblings. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law,
Bill and Lori Young of Boise; grandchildren, Faith Nikki Raan and Bryce of
Aviano, Italy, Tiffany Di Santo and David of Boise, Jake Young, Boise, Danielle
Young, Boise, and Angie Young, Boise; and great-grandchildren, Isaac and Tony
Di Santo, Boise, Matthew and Lukas Raan, Italy.
A committal service will be held at 10 a.m.,
Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. A viewing
will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015, at the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
