Lois Janiece McMullen

Lois Janiece McMullen was born on September 16, 1931, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Orpha Johnson Gerhard and James Clinton Gerhard. She passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on February 6, 2025, surrounded by love.

At the age of five, Janiece moved with her mother and siblings to Portland, Oregon, where she grew up during the Great Depression. She was the beloved sister of Donald, Wanda, Wanita, Doris, and Pauline ("Pinky"), and she carried the values of faith, resilience, and family devotion throughout her life.

On June 4, 1950, she married Robert Paul McMullen, and together they built a life filled with love, faith, and service. As a pastor’s wife, Janiece devoted her time to caring for others, offering shelter to those in need, and providing comfort to the sick and weary. She was a pillar of strength, always extending a helping hand with grace and kindness.

Janiece was a woman of deep faith and simple joys. She found beauty in the little things—the sound of gospel music in her home, the pages of a good book, the thrill of fishing, and the treasures of nature, whether in the form of pretty rocks or delicate seashells. She had a deep love for family, treating not only her own children but also grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and even strangers like they were her own.She is survived by her six children, Cherline McMullen, LaVonna Wiese, John McMullen, Mark McMullen, Lori (Jon) Gipson, and Trisha (Ron) Blizzard.

She is preceded in death by her beloved sons, Danny Craig McMullen and Steven Paul McMullen; her husband of 70 years, Robert Paul McMullen; and all of her dear siblings: Donald Gerhard, Doris Rockwell, Wanda Marquez, Wanita Dolinski, and Pauline Ellis.
