On Saturday, October 26, Lyle I. Odle peacefully returned
home to the Lord with family by his side.
Lyle was born on November 21, 1927 in Hill City, KS as the
only child to Irvin G. Odle and Cora E. Swank Odle. After graduating in 1945 from Hill City High
School, Lyle joined the Navy. Before re-enlisting, Lyle moved to Boise, Idaho
where he worked as a union carpenter and met the great love of his life,
Margaret Shaffer. In 1950, Lyle re-enlisted and served in the Korean War. Returning
from the war he married Margaret on August 19, 1951. In August, Lyle and
Margaret celebrated their 62
nd
Wedding Anniversary. Lyle retired
from Boise City as a City Inspector in 1990, but continued to give of his time
and love to those around him.
When Lyle was not serving others he could often be found at
home playing Spider Solitaire, building some new wood project, or in the
mountains enjoying his humming birds, riding ATV’s, or spending time with his
friends and family. Lyle served as a trustee and was
a member of the Odd Fellows lodge for over 70 years and member of Rebekah Lodge.
He and Margaret traveled to Washington D.C. to pay respects to the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier representing the Odd Fellows of Idaho. He also served as
trustee for Pioneer lodge in Idaho City. He held many distinctive positions and
served in many capacities in Encampment, and Canton. During the
holidays, with Margaret (Nana Claus) by his side, Lyle brought joy to many
children by playing Santa at the lodge, The City of Light, Hope’s Door, and in
Placerville Id.
Lyle will be greatly
missed by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret, his three children, John Odle,
Linda Sirani (Joe), and Steve Odle . His grandchildren, Melanie Dossett (Eric),
Christopher McVey (Amber), Timothy Odle (Joanna), Misti Scarpa Odle. His great grandchildren
Cody Dossett, Caitlin Dossett, Samantha Odle, Trynyty Scarpa, Isabella Odle,
Rachael Odle, Serenity McVey, Lilly Odle, Sebastian McVey. Grandchildren and
great grandchildren through marriage, Ireland Katherine and Michael , Sullivan Leslie
(Chris) Trevor Niehoff, Chris, Sirani Chris (Jen) Sabrina, DJ, and Karsen. Cousins,
nieces, nephews and other close loved ones, such as Jack McVey, Richard Davis
and Sandy Banta. Preceded in death by
his parents Irvin and Cora Odle.
A celebration of Lyle’s life is being held on Thursday,
November 7 at 5:30pm at IOOF, 600 N Curtis, Boise, Idaho
