Handmade quilts, Laura Ingalls’ Little House
books, card games, sisterly phone chats, church suppers and rummage sales—the
life of Margaret (Marge) Peppersack centered on her family, friends, and
faith. Marge was a devout member of the
Catholic Church, happily married for over 40 years, and successfully raised
seven sons and a daughter. She departed this life on August 29, 2014 at age 77.
Marge was born to Frank and Rose Pekarek on September
18, 1936.
Raised on a farm near Ramey,
Minnesota, she was the second oldest of 12 children and a beloved big
sister.
Marge married Ray Peppersack on
November 25, 1955, and the couple began their family in the St. Paul, Minnesota
area.
Ray’s job with Armour Meats transferred to Idaho
in 1973, and the family moved to Middleton.
In 1985, Marge and Ray bought The Western Motel in Baker City,
Oregon.
They ran the motel for 9 years
before retiring to Emmett, Idaho, where Ray died in 1998.
Marge’s world shrank in July 1999 when she
suffered severe head injuries in a car accident, and she resided at Hillcrest
Care Center in Boise until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray,
her parents; brothers Norm, Buzz, and Dick; sisters Trese and Jane; an infant
son Billy, and an infant daughter and infant grandson.
She is survived by eight children, Rita (Mark)
Bowden of Texas; Barry of Alaska; Jeff (Lanita), Randy (Deo), Wally (Patty),
Tim (Robin), John (Tracee), and Tom (Kathleen), all of Idaho; sisters Florence,
Alice, Roseann, Fanny, and Evy, all of Minnesota; brother Ernie of Arkansas; 17
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A
vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, at St. Mark's
Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5,
at St. Mark’s Church, Boise.
