Marie Olson

Marie Olson

Marie was born September 7, 1942 to Wayne and Martha Richards. Marie was the baby of the family and had two big brothers, Bill and Dick. The family lived in Hailey, Idaho then later in 1957 moved to Boise where she finished her Jr . and Senior year of High School graduating from Borah High in 1960. Marie worked for the Vista Albertsons in the ice cream parlor, then moved to the general office of Albertsons and was a comptroller operator.

Marie said it was because of the prayers of her mother and father that she met the man of her dreams, Doug Olson and they were married June 3, 1961 . Doug and Marie were made for each other and have loved, adored, cherished and enjoyed life together for the past 53 years. Anyone that knew Marie knows she was a proper, classy lady. Every hair was styled in place, her tiny toe nails polished and every outfit and accessory matched -right down to Doug's socks ... yes she even paid special attention to make sure his socks and usually clothes matched her as well. They were such a great pair together, hard workers, humble, full of character and integrity and a deep love for each other and the Lord. They enjoyed working, camping, boating, traveling, but mostly flying in Doug's airplane- as long as they were together they were happy.

They had 3 children that became their world. The oldest daughter, Shelley Marie, which later married Kendall Doty and gave her 5 grandchildren; Jared, Justin, KC, Tanner and Kelly they also added to her, 4 great -grandchildren, Daniel, Daisy, Abbie and Gibson. Their son Douglas Mi c hael married Tammy LaFever and gave her 2 granddaughters, Brooke and Dusti. Their youngest daughter, Tracey Lynne which married Joe Carleton and gave her 5 more grandchildren; Joncey, Lacey, Luke, Jonah and Kassidy.

Together this family has been blessed by her love, hugged with her compassion, nurtured in her tenderness, showered with gifts, scared by her reading of childhood book "the monster at the end of this book" and covered in lipstick kisses by this wonderful mother and grandmother.

Marie always was a tiny lady and never even weighed 100 Ibs until she was pregnant . Her feet were so tiny she only wore a size 4 shoe but she had shoes no one else could fill for they were packed with so much love, kindness and giving to everyone . Marie had a small name without even a middle name, but she didn't need one because her name meant so much to everyone. She was lovingly called a wife or as Doug would say" my bride" , she was called a mom, a grandma, a great grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, a servant of the Lord and a lot of the time ... just "REE-REE."

Marie is survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis and her loving brother, Dick and Glenda and th e ir wonderful families that meant so much to her . Marie endured much with her health but all that mattered to her was Christ and her family . Doug tenderly and patiently cared for all her needs and health issues and together they shared more love than people could ever imagine . In her last days she thanked her precious husband for the life he had given her and she loved him with all her h e art. A marriage like theirs truly is a picture of sacrificial , pure Christ - like love and we are all so grateful for how Marie's 72 years of life has filled our lives with love and joy. We will all forever love and miss our "Ree-Ree. "

In lieu of flowers the family asks that gifts of love be sent to Fellowship Baptist Church, 1824 W 3rd Street, Meridian, Idaho 83646, for the building fund.
