Marie Palmer

Marie Palmer passed away January 25 th after a brief illness.  Marie (Ria) was born August 7, 1928 in Gross-Umstadt , Germany , to Henry and Sophie Forschler.  She came to the U.S. in 1948 and later helped to bring her parents, brothers, and sister here as well.  She married Ellis Palmer in 1951, and they lived in Caldwell until 1981.  She worked for many years at the Idaho First National Bank.  They owned a cabin in McCall and spent summer weekends and vacations there for many years.  In 1981 Marie and Ellis moved to Boise to be closer to their first granddaughter.  After Ellis died in 1986, Marie devoted all her energy to her four granddaughters.  She loved them dearly and spent as much time as possible helping to care for them and being involved in their activities.  She always said her granddaughters were the great joy of her life.  Marie was sweet and kind, had a generous spirit and was always willing to give a helping hand.  She was an avid follower of politics and news.  She loved to read about history and always had a book in progress.  She took many trips to Europe with daughter, Rosemarie, and son-in-law, Bob, and got to see history in real time.  She was known for her great fudge and streusel cake.  Every Christmas season she would make many batches of fudge to give to family, friends, and acquaintances.  Marie loved to walk and put in many miles at the Mall during the early morning hours.  We’ll miss you, Mom, but you’ll always be with us.

Marie is survived by her three daughters, Rosemarie Sarnoff (Robert) of Eagle, Renée Palmer, and Valerie Berg (Greg), four granddaughters, Meghan Mallea (Angelo Benito), Elizabeth Mallea, Maggie Mallea, and Rebecca Berg, all of Boise, brother George Forschler (Susan) of Keswick,Virginia, and sister Trudy Gallo of Poughkeepsie, New York.  She welcomed her great granddaughter, Amaia Benito-Mallea, in November of last year.   She has many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ellis, her brothers August Forschler, Henry Forschler, and Hans Forschler.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of choice.
