Marjorie
Wilson Wall Pratt, The only child of Louise and Grover Wilson, was Grandmother,
Mother, Best friend; passed away on March 18, 2012 at 2 p.m., at home,
surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a third generation
Idahoan, where her early childhood was spent in Silver City where her grandparents
owned The Idaho Hotel. They later purchased a ranch and orchard in Meridian,
Idaho. After the depression they moved to Boise, where she graduated from Boise
High School in 1939. She continued her education at the University of Idaho,
where one of her fondest memories was the Dance Club and their many
performances.
In 1943 she
married George Wall, and had two daughters, Joan and Carol. They later
divorced. She then married William Pratt.
She worked
for Prudential Insurance, the Idaho State Legislature, and the Office of
Energy. Her favorite part-time job was with Les Bois Race Track, where they
honored her for twenty-seven years of service in 1997.
She
considered her work in part her social life, because of the wonderful friends
she made. Everyone recognized her sincerity, loyalty, and that she was always
generous and helpful.
Her hobbies
were reading (anything and everything) golf, dancing, and crafts. She loved
spending time with her dogs and cat Angel.
She was a
strong advocate of the Democratic Party, and a life-long Episcopalian. She
volunteered wherever/whenever needed at St. Michael’s Cathedral.
Her
daughters Joan and Carol cared for her from 1997 after a stroke. She couldn’t
speak or write, but always patted their cheeks to let them know how much she
appreciated them. Caring for a parent that was so kind, happy and positive made
them feel blessed and honored to care for her. She was truly a gift from God!
Marjorie is
survived by her two loving daughters, Joan (Tom) Buckmaster, and Carol (Brian)
Smith; five grandchildren, Shelly (Jeff) Pierce, Lori Page, Troy Page, Travis
(Jackie) Page, Scott (Debbie) Page; great-grandkids, Trevor, Tyler, Ashleigh,
Natosha, CJ, Hayliegh, Tre, Ty, Chris, Shane, Brittany; and great
great-grandkids.
A
celebration of life will be on Monday, April 2, 2012, at 2 p.m., at St.
Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral, Boise, with a reception to follow in the Bishop
Tuttle House. Arrangements are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral
Chapel, Boise.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the Idaho Humane Society.
