Marliss Ray McMillan
June 4, 1935 to August 30, 2013

Marliss Ray McMillan was born to parents Raymond F. Johnston and Kathryn  Mae Hawkins Johnston on June 4, 1935. She grew up in the Franklin community of Nampa and always felt close to the family, friends and neighbors she knew there. We heard many stories about visits to friends, friends helping each other with farm work, and dances at the Liberty Grange Hall. She was surrounded by family when she left this life on August 30, 2013.
She had two daughters with husband Steve Jordan; they later divorced. When her children were young she worked at Boise Valley Pack, then later at area grocery stores and Hewlett Packard. She enjoyed her work and the many friends she made at HP before her retirement in 1990.
Marliss met Ronald McMillan, her husband and best friend, while working at the Collister M&W Market. They married in 1976 and enjoyed each other’s company at home and while traveling in their RV. Seeing the beautiful sites of Idaho was a lifelong pleasure for Marliss. She enjoyed all activities where she could be with her family, loved good music, and dancing in the kitchen.  If you were nearby when a good song played, you danced with her - and grandbabies sometimes got danced to sleep. She also enjoyed reading and always shared articles and clippings with her girls.
Marliss is survived by her husband Ron and a large blended family: daughter Terry Harper; grandson Kreston Bailey; daughter Jerrie Hammons, grandson Dustin and Heather Hammons and their girls Miya and Keira; granddaughter Brenna and Danny Lawson and their children Isabel and Hunter; stepdaughter Christi and Robert Blockoff; granddaughter Brooke and Mike Farlow and their children Max and Sara; granddaughter Jacinda Walters and her daughter Mya; stepdaughter Diana and Larry Peterson; granddaughter Aubrey and Bobby Anderson and their sons Cooper  and Griffin; grandson Jordan; stepdaughter Vicki McMillan, grandson Kenneth and Tiffany Lower, and  granddaughter Stephanie Lower and her son Jayden. She also kept close in her heart her niece Jo and Kevin Lootens, great nephew Trent and Hailey, and greatniece Katy; niece Jan and Larry Forschler and son Jordan; and great nephew Raymond Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry Johnston, her nephew Jon Johnston, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
It is hard to sum up our wonderful mother’s life in just a few short paragraphs; the rest of the story is in our hearts. We will always remember her quick smile and the twinkle in her eyes.  She was well loved and will be missed.

A graveside committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Dry Creek Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
