Marvin Richard Kearns, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014.  He was the youngest  of four children born to Gilbert William and Florence Cecelia (Breshears) Kearns on March 6, 1930 in Boise, ID, although he lived and grew up with his family in Eagle, ID.
Marvin graduated from Eagle High school in 1948 whereby he entered the Army and became a part of the 4 th Infantry Division, 72 nd Tank Battalion at Fort Lewis on 07/07/1948.  After leaving the Army Marvin worked several different jobs until finally settling down at the Idaho Transportation Department’s District 3 office where he worked for 28 years until his retirement in May of 1987.
Marvin met his bride JoAnn Osler during high school, and they were married on November 29, 1950 at the First Christian Church in Boise.  During their 58 years together, they had three sons, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter whom Marvin loved and cared about very much.  Marvin took a special interest in the lives of his grandchildren.  He never missed a ball game, school event or special occasion in their lives.
Marvin enjoyed gardening and loved to share the bounty with friends and family.  He was a man of many trades.  He built their first house and added two rooms and three shops to their home in Boise. He liked to work with wood and built everything from furniture, bird houses to bowls for mom's salads. He also enjoyed cars, whether it be racing them at Meridian Speedway or restoring them as he did with a 1928 and 1929 Model A Fords.  He was even one of the original founders of the ‘Old Timer’s Car Club’.  In his later years, Marvin took up bowling where he participated on several singles and doubles bowling leagues.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years JoAnn, his parents, sister Violet Hiner, brothers Delbert and Elmer Kearns.
