Mary Lorraine Morton, of Boise, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 in a Boise assisted living center.   She was born in Boise, Idaho on September 12, 1929 the daughter of Russell J. and Viola Gardner Morton.

Mary spent her early life and schooling in Boise and was a 1947 graduate of Boise High School.   She then attended and graduated from Boise Junior College in 1949.
She began working for the Merit System Council for the State Of Idaho, and also two companies in San Francisco, CA.  She also worked for First Security Bank in Boise.   In 1957, Mary began career with Idaho Power in the legal Dept.   She later became the executive secretary to the President and then the executive secretary to the C.E.O. of Idaho Power. She retired in 1990, after 33 years with the company.

After retirement Mary was a volunteer for the Community Concert Association, Auxiliaries at St. Alphonsus and St. Luke’s Hospitals, and the Red Cross of Boise.  She was longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a volunteer and was a past elder and deacon.

Mary is survived by her loving dog, Jenny; her lifelong friend, Ann Smitchger of Boise, and several other loved ones and many other friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and several cousins.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 950 W State St, Boise, ID 83702 or a charity of your choice.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, at the First Presbyterian Church, Small Chapel, 950 W State St, Boise.  A private interment was held at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
