Melvin Reimers

Melvin A. Reimers passed way September 22nd, 2018 at his home in Eagle. He is survived by his children Shannon Jones and Jeff Reimers (Susan); grandchildren Zachary Jones (Megan), Airielle Moore (Justin), Aaron Reimers (Libby), and April Reimers (Simon Burnworth); plus four great grandchildren and many dear friends, nieces, and nephews.

Melvin Alfred Reimers was born on March 14 th , 1934 in Pearl, Idaho, to Otto and Lina Reimers. He was the youngest of three brothers and also had six beautiful sisters. Often known as “Little Red” while growing up in the small town of Atlanta, Idaho, Mel and his family would eventually move to Eagle, Idaho, and graduated from Eagle High School as class president in 1953. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Ellen Packer, the following year. He was drafted that same year into the Army, and was stationed in Pittsburgh, PA for most of that time. He retired as a respected Captain in the Boise Fire Department in 1990 and continued custom hardwood flooring for a few years following. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marge, in 2012; his parents and siblings.

Mel was a “Natural” from his early childhood and even as an adult: he excelled as an athlete, a hunter and fisherman, a master carpenter, a leader, but most importantly, as a wonderful husband, father, and friend. We’ll miss his beautiful smile and sense of humor, warmth and kindness, infectious laugh, hilarious hunting and fishing tales, and the way he would light up when someone spoke of his wife, kids, or grandkids.

Services will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel at 5400 W. Fairview Avenue in Boise, Idaho 83706 on September 27th at 1:00PM . Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
