Mildred E. "Millie" Brown

Mildred E. "Millie" Brown, 80, Boise, Idaho, formerly of Middleton and Ontario, passed away peacefully at a Boise care facility, Saturday, April 9, 2011.

Mildred E. Brown was born May 27, 1930, the third child of Clinton Clyde Robinson and Alma Verna Eastland in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She grew up through the toughest years of the great depression. When she was 5 years old, her family moved to Idaho. She attended elementary and high school in Vale, Oregon and obtained her GED in 1972. In 1948 she married Ralph Kershaw Brown in Winnemucca, Nevada. They were sealed in the Boise LDS Temple, February 1999. Their first home was in Layton, Utah, where in 1949 their first child, Janie, was born. They moved to Little Valley, Oregon where they farmed after their home in Layton was destroyed by fire. In 1950 they moved to Middleton where Rod, Pat, and Keith subsequently joined their family. They farmed north of Middleton until 1966 at which time they moved into town. They lived in the Caldwell/Middleton area until 1993 when they moved to Ontario where they lived amongst their bountiful gardens and beautiful flowers for 10 years. In 2003 they moved to the Boise area where they have since resided. Mildred worked part time for Rexall Drug in Caldwell and then went to work for Sears & Roebuck where she did clerical work for 26 years.

On April 20, 2010, Ralph preceded MIldred in death just one week shy of 62 years of marriage. Also preceding her were her mother, father, 1 sister, and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by a daughter, Janie Kirtley (Ron) of Caldwell, son Rodney (Nancy) of Boise; daughter, Pat Rasmussen (Scott) of Pocatello; son Keith (Myra) of Portland, Oregon; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great-great-grandchild to be born in May 2011.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Summerwind Assisted Living, Life Care Center of Treasure Valley, Hearts & Home Hospice, Dr. Karen East and Dr. Mary Diettrich for their care and kindness to mother and our family.
