Mildred Jean Woods, 84, of Boise, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011, in a local care center. Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 4-8 p.m., at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 2:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery.
Mildred was born on Nov. 9, 1926, in Prineville, OR, to Herman A. Meder and Mary Gertrude (Smith) Meder. She attended the Powell Butte, Oregon, Grade School and Jr. High, and graduated from the Crook County High School before attending Oregon State University. Mildred married Jack G. Woods, on Dec. 30, 1953, in Prineville. Together they lived in Oklahoma City, before settling in Boise. Mildred worked as a telephone operator and as a clerk in a doctors’ clinic before she and Jack became partners in Jack’s Flowers floral shop. She enjoyed photography, scrapbooking and travelling. In August of 2010, Mildred was honored at the 50th Anniversary of the Crooked River Roundup as it’s first rodeo queen. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cathedral of the Rockies.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Jack G. Woods; a son, Alan D. Woods, of Boise; two grandchildren, granddaughter, Kathryn “Katie” Woods, and grandson, Michael Alan Woods, of Boise; and several cousins on her mother’s side, of Prineville, OR. She was preceded in death by her
