Mildred Mae Moore

Mildred Mae Moore

Heavens gates opened wide on Aug. 7, 2013 and my beloved mother, Mildred Mae Moore (95) entered in to be with her Lord and Savior.

Mildred was born December 26, 1917 in Star, Idaho to Delmar and Effie Johnston. She and her siblings Orval, Delman, Alma and Lela grew up in Star. Mom was always busy working, picking fruit in Emmett during the summer and fall, working as a telephone operator on the local switchboard, clerking at Newberry’s or performing chores required at home. Mom loved sports and played on the girls’ basketball team winning the championship her senior year. Mildred graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1936.

After graduation, she married her High School sweetheart, Marvin Moore of Eagle, Idaho. They settled in Boise where he was employed at Purity Bakery. A few years later, their daughter, Darlene Kay was born.

In 1943, Marvin went into the military and Mildred and Darlene moved back to Star to be near her parents. Shortly after Marvin returned home, he began working for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company. Dad’s work required a lot of travel. No matter when or where, Mom could always be found busily engaged in making us a wonderful new home whether in Australia, Puerto Rico, Alaska, or any of the western States.

When Dad retired, they settled in Boise and started their own “little construction company” building two duplexes. When Dad went to Valdez, Alaska for a short time during their building project, Mom became the project manager, general superintendent, and framer in his absence. She was a complete success as always and the project continued to completion.

Mom loved her Lord, her flowers, working in her garden and reading. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years (Marvin), two brothers, Orval (Noma) and Delman (Delberta) of Mesa, AZ and sisters, Lela (Webb) and Alma Gleason of Prescott, AZ.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Garry) Fowble, grandson, Michael Betts (Tracey), several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., at Star Cemetery, 9350 West Floating Feather Road, Star, ID. A viewing will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, from 4-8 p.m., at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.

Following the service, everyone is invited to attend a celebration of Mildred’s life at the home of her grandson, Michael Betts, 24746, Star Crest Court, Middleton, ID.

The family would like to express thanks to Emerson House and XL Hospice for their support and the love and care shown to Mother.
