Nancie Marie Williams

Nancie Marie Williams went to heaven on Friday, 1/26/18 after a short battle with cancer. Born Nellie Marie Rush in Blackfoot, ID, she was later adopted by Harold and Thelma Gribbin of Weiser, ID and they renamed her Nancy Marie Gribbin.  After graduating from Ontario High School in 1948, she studied Nursing at the University of Oregon.  During her internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, ID, Nancie met Norman Chapman Williams, who at 21, was recovering in the children’s ward after having his tonsils removed. It was love at first sight, and they were wed on August 19, 1951 — they went on to enjoy over fifty years of marriage.  Life was not without pain — their first child, Baby Williams, died shortly after her birth. Joy followed with the birth of their two sons: Douglas Lee and then Michael Chapman.  Nancie worked outside the home in numerous doctor’s, dentist’s and orthodontist offices in Boise as an assistant.  She made many good friends at work, whom she cherished her entire life.

Nancie loved gardening, and she got gorgeous results, in spite of the squirrels which scavenged in her bird feeders.  She planned family vacations which were filled with adventure and magical Christmas mornings at the Williams’ house.

Nancie was preceded in death by her bio parents, Earl Rush and Edith Burrell Rush, her adoptive parents Harold Gribbin and Thelma Morrison Gribbin, her Bio brother and sister Edward and Elaine, adopted sister, Donna Nicholson, her husband, Norman Williams and son, Douglas Williams.
Nancie is survived by her bio sisters and brother, Margaret, Deloris and Earl, adoptive brother, Michael Gribbin, son, Michael Chapman Williams, daughters-in-law, Linda Platt Williams and Cherie Burgess Williams, grandchildren, Dustin Casey Williams (Katherine Krueger Williams), Sheena Williams Markwell, Jared and Jackson Williams, Great Grandchildren, Taye and Xander Markwell, Isabelle Williams, Maleigha Markwell, & Madeleine Williams, and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s or Boys Town were Nancie’s preference.  Graveside service will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, 1/31/18.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her care givers at St. Alphonsus, All Care Health Solutions and most especially the wonderful people at Spring Creek at Overland for the love they gave her over the last couple of years.
