N.K. Jack Whitney, 90, of Boise, died Sunday,
December 2, 2012 in a Boise hospital of natural causes.
Jack was born June 8, 1922 in Ohiowa, Nebraska, the
son of Newel K. and Bertie Decker Whitney.
He moved with his family to Boise, ID where he attended Garfield
Elementary, Boise High School and Boise Junior College. On June 20, 1948 Jack married Myrtle A. Geerhart
at the First United Methodist Church in Boise.
Jack worked for Mountain States Telephone Company
for many years. His hobbies were golf
and pool and he also had a special interest in Shriner’s Hospitals for crippled
children. He volunteered at St. Luke’s
and the Veterans Hospitals.
Memberships include the Masonic Lodge #60 and El
Korah Shrine. Jack was a Past President of Mekanix Unit, Past President of Egg
& Shell, and Past member of R.O.J. He served 4 years as the director of El
Korah Temple and 2 years as the Potentates Aid.
He was the Potentate of El Korah Temple in 1984.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Myrtle, Boise; two
nieces and their spouses, Suzanne and Bill Giltner and Terri and Mike Lloyd all
of Jerome and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers
and one sister.

A private graveside will be held at Dry Creek
Cemetery under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
