Alan Smith, age 80, died August 12, 2013.
Alan
was born July 23, 1933 at Denver Colorado, the son of Lester and Mae
Smith. He married Margaret Boebel on
December 17, 1956.
Alan
attended the College of Idaho and the University of Denver receiving a degree
in 1958. He later attended the College
of Law at the University of Idaho. He
was admitted to the Idaho bar in 1966.
He was in private and governmental practice and later was a prosecutor
and assistant City Attorney with the City of Boise. Alan became a Judge of the District Court
Magistrate Division of Ada County and served in that capacity for fifteen years
until his retirement in 1987.
Alan
enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He was
particularly fond of hunting, fishing, and boating.
He
was devoted to his family, children, grandsons, and great grandson. He will be remembered for his sense of
fairness and honesty, sense of humor, and love and devotion to family and
friends.
Alan
is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret, three children, Jason and wife
Peggy of Boise, Jennifer of Boise, and Matthew and wife Susan of Sammamish,
Washington, grandchildren Brandon, Justin, Jake, Ryan, Logan and great
grandchild Jaden, brother Ronald of Austin, Texas, and sister Kathleen of
Conway, Missouri. Alan was preceded in
death by his father and mother.
Family
will receive guests at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 18
th
from 4pm to 8pm. A private graveside
service will be held at a later date.
