Norma Jean Vickers , 72 , died on Monday, May 14, 2012, at a Nampa care facility.

She was born May 18 , 1939 in Filer , Idaho to Charles Price Vickers and Margaret Cortner Vickers. The divorce of her parents when she was three years old resulted in a move to Twin Falls , then to Henderson , Nevada to the first stepfather situation , then back to Twin Falls , then to Tullahoma , Tennessee , then Twin Falls, and then to a farm about halfway between Ganne t t and Picabo , Idaho to a second stepfather situatio n . She attended school in Bellevue, Idaho from the th i rd grade through the eighth grade . The n i nth grade was in Seattle , the ten t h grade at Bellevue , I daho and t he eleven t h and twelfth grades we r e at Montrose , Colorado, where she graduated f r om h igh school i n 1957 .

After high school graduation s h e moved to Bo i se , Idaho , attended Links Business College and went to work for Boise-Payette (later Boise Cascade) . She was enthusiastic about her job and did a lo t of work . In December 1973, she got a Bachelo r degree in Bus i ness Adminis t ration at BSU . She wo r ked for Bo i se Cascade abou t 17 years.

Norma had a good sense of humor and was gene r o u s and good hearted. She would g i ve people money to help them o u t even when it made he r short of money . She took her s i ster Mary in when she cou l dn't live at home with her husband and children anymore. Later she also took in an older woman who couldn ' t live by herself.

About 1975 she found out she had multiple sclerosis. She was able t o drive and get arou n d for many years, but when the disease finally took hold, she d i dn ' t comp l a i n, she just dealt w i th it the best she could and remained posi t i ve .

Augus t 18 , 2011, she was told she had a 6 cm glioma (tumo r ) i n her brain . September 13th the glioma was removed. I t was a grade 4 which is the worst kind . Gliomas can be slowed, but not stopped . She was treated with radiation, and another MRI showed that the tumor was coming back . Since the radiation had caused her problems . there was no more that could be done . She remained posit i ve to the end .

Norma never married. She was preceded i n dea t h by her parents , step-parents and one sister ,
Mary E . Featherston Masonholder .

She is su r vived by three brothers , Larry E . Featherston of Heyburn , Fred W. Featherston of Boise, and George A . Vickers of Payette.

A funeral service wi l l be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, with viewing beginning at12 noon at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel , 5400 Fairview Avenue in Bo i se . Bur i al will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery, where Norma will be buried nex t t o her s i ster , Mary .
