Ondas Earl Doan was born Nov. 30, 1930 to Otto and Ethel Doan in Idabel, OK named after his father’s college roommate. He was nicknamed “Pete” which he was called the rest of his life. His parents, sisters; Geraldine, Imogene, Evelyn, Patricia, Linda, and brother Jim, all instilled a strong sense of family and appreciation for being an “okie” in young Pete. In the mid-forties the family moved to Ontario, CA. He attended Chaffey High School where he participated in all athletics and also attended Chaffey College where he played football.
After school Pete joined the army and while stationed at Beale A.F.B. where he met a young lady by the name of Molly Moon who would become his wife of fifty-seven years. From this union four children were born; Duane, Kathy, Julie, and Paul. Working with Bank of America, early family years involved moves to Yuba City, Gridley, Woodland, and Dixon, CA. A career change in Dixon to a marketing capacity for the underground cast in place pipe industry led to many new friendships until retirement.
Relocation to Escondido, CA in 1977 was a new adventure. The beautiful area was adored; teaching grandchildren to fish at Lake Wohlford and becoming a dedicated San Diego Charger fan. A move to Boise, ID in 2007 provided more happy memories with family get-togethers throughout the years. Pete loved to fish, garden, read, and every morning would complete the crossword puzzle in the newspaper shortly after sun up.
Pete passed away April 15, 2011 after battling an illness. Immediate survivors of his legacy are wife Molly, sons Duane(Nancy) and Paul(Geraldine) Doan, daughters Kathy(Ron) Marr, Julie(Rick) Sylvestri, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Pete lived a full life, enjoyed a good time, loved his family proudly, and was a friend to many. The magnitude of his loss is only surpassed by a lifetime of loving memories. Rest in peace dear husband, father, grandpa, and friend.
