Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Opal “Penny” Potter passed away peacefully Friday, February 18, 2011.
She was born July 15, 1927 in Custer County, OK. She was the eldest daughter of 6 children.
Penny married the love of her life, John Potter, from Boise, on December 28, 1974.
After she retired from Boise Cascade, Penny and John were blessed to be able to enjoy many adventures in their life. Watching her grandson at the Olympics in Australia to the granddaughters dancing performances; to her oldest grandson at all his sports activities – Penny thrilled at all the special moments.
She was passionate in writing special poems for her family along with her love for dance. They loved to travel, especially driving there, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Penny was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawvon, Cleo, and Ed Hudson; one sister, Thelma Graybeal; her eldest daughter, Linda Hayes; and son-in-law Tom Naylor, whom she loved to cheer on from the stands each and every night wherever he raced.
She is survived by her husband, John; sister, June Quintieri; two daughters, Debra Watanabe, and Kristie Naylor Hetherington; two step daughters, Jona Biddlestone, and Marcia Petersen, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Dry Creek Cemetery at 11:00am. Arrangements under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
She will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts….we love you Nana.
