Orville J.
“Pat”
Thompson, 86, of Boise,
died Wednesday,
December 9, 2020.
Pat
was born on August 31, 1934 in Nampa, ID, the son of Orville A. “Mike” and Opal
M. Strong Thompson.
He attended
elementary school at Guffy Butte, a one room schoolhouse by the Snake
River.
He went on to graduate from
Marsing High School in 1953.
After
graduating he was inducted into the United States Army where he served honorably
for two years during the Korean Conflict.
Following his service in the Army he married Margaret E. “Ann” Wallace
on June 9, 1956 in Winnemucca, NV.
They
were later divorced.
On January 23, 1972
he married Phyllis J. Berry Vadney.
They
enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage.
Pat
worked for Triangle Dairy for 37 years before he retired.
His many interests included raising mules and
horses, hunting, fishing and motorcycles.
Pat loved the Mule Club where he discovered
numerous new trails in the Sawtooth’s and
Owyhee county.
He especially enjoyed
going on hunting trips.
He loved his
family and they participated in many camping excursions and holidays together.
He shared special time with Dale &
Linda Forrester
, Dale & Kathy Cooper, Bill Spear and Dave
Grant.
He taught two of his grandsons,
Peyton and Zach, many outdoor skills during family adventures. He was a proud
member of the Marsing High School class of “53” and regularly attended their
quarterly luncheon and class reunion picnics.
He remained close to his high school friends and was especially close to
Charlie & Joan Wilson,
Roy
&
Wilma Buckley and Moe Larson.
He
is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thompson, his daughters and sons-in-law, Alana
& Steve Walsh and Alana’s children: Gerry and Nicole Greenfield,
Shannon
& Brian Flatter and their children: Zachary
and Rachel, Kim & Delroy Wood and Kim’s
son
: Peyton Sidowski along with his son and
daughter-in-law, Kevin &
Stephanie Thompson
with
their daughters:
Jessica and Nicole.
He
was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Shirley.
His
family suggests memorials be made to Wounded Warriors or other Veterans
organizations.
A private committal service with military honors will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
