Patricia Ann (Foster) Osborn

Patricia Ann Osborn (Pat), 89, of Boise, ID entered Heaven on August 22, 2024. Pat was born in Nampa, ID on February 11, 1935 to Charles and Ellen Foster.

Pat spent her early years growing up in Silver City, ID and Murphy, ID which instilled her long-time love of Owyhee County. She started school in a one-room schoolhouse in Murphy, then when the family moved to Boise, she attended Franklin Elementary, South Junior High and graduated from Boise High School in the Spring of 1953. She attended Boise Junior College (BJC) in the fall of 1953 and graduated in the spring of 1955. After graduating BJC, she worked at the phone company until she got married.

Pat married Glenn Osborn on September 8, 1957. They began their married life living in Moscow, ID. Pat and Glenn moved to Emmett, ID when Glenn began his career with the US Forest Service as a Forester on the Emmett Ranger District. They spent summers at the High Valley Ranger Station. While living in Emmett, their first three children were born (Jan, Jeff, and Jodi). In December of 1962, they moved to Cokeville, WY and then to Pinedale, WY. While living in Pinedale, their fourth child, Jill, was born. In January of 1971, they moved back to Boise where she lived the rest of her life.

Pat was active in her kids lives, traveling the junior ski racing circuit, campfire girls leader, coaching Special Olympics for almost 20 years and was always in the stands cheering at their sporting events.

Pat was a true historian, which, combined with her love of family led to her hobby of genealogy. She spent hours searching and learning about family history and was extremely proud of her Swedish/English/Irish/German ancestry. Her roots ran deep in Owyhee County and she enjoyed the annual outpost days at Murphy and when she could get someone to brave the road, she loved a trip to Silver City. She also enjoyed traveling to the Oregon Coast and spending summer weekends in McCall. Her favorite event was the Brunzell family reunion she put together in McCall in 1999. Many of us still have the wonderful family history book she worked so hard on – all pages typed on a manual typewriter as she didn’t have a computer at that time.

Many family and friends kept in contact with Pat through Facebook where she was known to share not only family history, but, tidbits about early times in Boise. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to the family. Pat will be missed by many.

Survivors include daughter Jan (Dave) Schwalbe; son Jeff Osborn; daughter Jodi Osborn (Deb Gilnack); grandchildren Justin (Lexie) Schwalbe, Jeremy Osborn, Sarah Barnard, Dani (Cody) Huss, Sierra Osborn; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Foster; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Charles and Ellen Foster, husband Glenn Osborn, and daughter, Jill Osborn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Assisted Living for the wonderful care and friendship and the staff at All Care Hospice for their care and concern.
